The Museum is now also responsible for the Local Studies Collection, established in the 1980s, and both are managed to meet contemporary operating guidelines and storage requirements.
This collection began before there was a city museum, as the City of Bunbury became more aware of the need to preserve the city’s heritage.
It is housed in purpose-built storage and includes newspaper records not available anywhere else, which can be viewed on microfiche machines.
It now numbers thousands of items including maps, minutes, photographs, and personal memorabilia and has contributed to many research publications and to the new Museum displays.
The Local Studies officer works with the Museum team so for research appointments please phone 08 9792 7199 or email email@example.com
