We're thrilled to be hosting A View from the Park as a part of Bunbury Fringe 2021- a selection of short plays cleverly written by Perth playwright Noel O’Neill and presented by Maverick Theatre Productions.
Each play takes place away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and technology.
Hosted in the unique heritage surrounds of our building, the former Paisley Centre, A View from the Park presents a poignant reflection of what bubbles under the surface for all of us.
In one of the plays, ‘A Ticket to Paradise’, a friendship is tested when two old friends bring up the past, while another short play ‘Love and Marriage’ explores an unhappily married couple planning to repair someone else’s marriage.
Playwright Noel O’Neill, who also stars in one of the plays, was born in Ireland before moving to New York in his late teens to study acting. After appearing in many off-Broadway productions Noel relocated to Perth, where he has worked as a lecturer at the WA Academy of Performing Arts and starred in productions including the ABC series ‘The Heights’.
"The appeal of A View from the Park is the fact you have six unknown situations and there's s a curiosity to that. When you present a full play, you have one story and can more or less figure out the ending in most cases. But with the park bench plays you have six situations and the audience really has no idea of the outcome each time."
- Noel O’Neill
A View from the Park has previously sold out at the Carlisle Hotel and the Old Mill Theatre.
